THE TRADITIONAL HESSIAN COMPANY KÖHL IS DEMONSTRATING A GENUINE SPIRIT OF INNOVATION WITH THE NEW KÖHL KLEAN CONFERENCE CHAIR
The new development not only impresses with its elegant design and seating comfort, but also with a particularly high level of sustainability.
To act even more sustainably and at the same time meet the highest standards of design and seating comfort - this was the aim behind the development of the KÖHL KLEAN. And it has been completely successful. The central element of this is the felt-look seat shell, which impresses at first glance with its elegant lines and high seating comfort. The use of the material is unique. PrimaLoft®BioTM is a revolutionary polyester material whose fibers are converted into biomass without creating any other environmentally harmful substances. Thanks to a new fiber treatment process, the unavoidable fiber residues that arise during the manufacturing and recycling process are broken down by microorganisms and therefore no longer pollute the environment with harmful microplastics.
This is what sets PrimaLoft®BioTM apart from conventional PET fibers and sets new standards in terms of sustainability. Already successfully used in the textile industry, for example as a soft insulating material for sophisticated outdoor jackets, PrimaLoft®BioTM is being used for the first time by KÖHL as a pressed solid material, thus celebrating a world premiere.
Like conventional polyester fibers, PrimaLoft®BioTM can be subjected to a standard PET recycling process and is therefore fully recyclable.
"The KLEAN is also a personal dream come true for me: I always wanted to develop and create a product that is at the heart of an environmental cycle. We have succeeded in doing that here," says KÖHL product designer Marcin Fijalkowski happily.
The ecological construction of the KÖHL KLEAN conference chair without adhesives ensures maximum recyclability of the other materials such as upholstery fabrics, frames, screws and the plywood seat plate, some of which are made from 100% recycled materials.
Consistent sustainability and high-quality aesthetics do not have to be a contradiction – visitors can see this for themselves at ORGATEC 2024 in Cologne, where KÖHL is presenting the new KÖHL KLEAN.
